For the 2020-2021 school year, the Ramsey Orchestra will be offering a duel curriculum to meet the needs of our students. We are still unsure about the state of getting school owned instruments in student's hands (that is the goal) but we want to be ready for anything. More information will be sent to your student to have the option to choose once school begins on the 25th of August.

TO PROVIDE YOUR CHILD A UNIQUE AND WORTH-WHILE MUSICAL EXPERIENCE WITH A WELL-ROUNDED APPRECIATION FOR THE ARTS THAT WILL BENEFIT THEM IN WHATEVER PASSION THEY CHOOSE TO PURSUE.

  • Option 1: Performance Track

  • Option 2: Method/Pedagogy Track

*Option 2 will be our sole use during NTI if instruments cannot be made available.*

This curriculum is strictly to retain our numbers of enrollment. We do not want to keep any student from being a part of our program if we can meet their musical needs! "Rent-to-own" programs for students who would like to own their own instrument, stay tuned for more information!

*Option Switch: if a student is enrolled in an option and wants to switch, they will easily be able to do so!*

PERFORMANCE TRACK

Students with instruments at home will have the option to:

  • Use Essential Elements Book (depending on grade) to practice pieces that will be assigned a weekly playing test. *Example: Essential Elements Book 1 #7 due Friday the 13th by 11:59 P.M.

  • Receive specific video feedback on their playing from myself to progress their ability during this time.

  • The goal of this track is to progress playing, so that when we come back in person, we can perform as though no time has passed at all!

METHOD/PEDAGOGY TRACK

Students without instruments at home will have to opportunity to:

  • Focus on music notation, recognizing rhythms and pitches then correlating the combination to finger patterns for their instrument (I have a system for practicing without an instrument), while also using an Essential Elements Book.

  • Option 1 (Assessments) - Students will have the option to submit a video of them saying the note names out loud while moving the fingers on their arm (will be demonstrated), so they can apply it to their instrument when receive one.

  • Option 2 (Assessments) - Students can also choose to do an assessment using Google Forms or Google Docs that is aligned with Essential Elements so that they are keep at the same pace in the book as the rest of the class! Students will receive feedback on their work/immediate grade using Forms to ensure they are confident in musical methods and pedagogy!
